The ENABLE Scholarship program develops future leaders in emerging economies by providing access to Heriot-Watt University online MSc programs. 

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs), this program provides specialized field courses in key disciplines that allow scholars to continue living, working and studying in the community they aim to positively impact.  

Why Heriot-Watt University?

Heriot-Watt University is an international university, with globally integrated campuses in Scotland, Dubai and Malaysia, and has more than 200 partnerships with other educational organisations.     

We offer a fully accredited educational program across all campuses and modes of delivery (including our online MSc programs). This means that students study the same program, with the same learning outcomes and assessments, and earn the same British qualification that is awarded and issued by Heriot-Watt University in the UK.  

In addition to online learning, students also receive a designated academic mentor, bespoke in-country short courses and events, and networking opportunities with fellow students and alumni. 

ENABLE Scholarships Award Criteria 

Applicants must:  

• Be employed full-time in an organization that endorses the application and partners with the ENABLE Scholarships program  

• Live in an emerging economy within which the ENABLE Scholarships program is in operation, and demonstrate financial need  

• Be early-mid career stage with potential to become future leaders to address challenges of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals  

ENABLE Scholarships application process

• The Enable Scholarship partner organization (i.e., the organization within which the applicant is employed) provides letters of recommendation for individual applicants that they have selected from their organization.  

• Applicants complete an online application form. 

• Applications are reviewed by the Enable Scholarship management team, from which a short list of applicants will be invited for online interview.  

• Applicants then selected will be supported by the Network Coordinator to apply register and enroll in the specific HWU Online MSc Program.
